1984 Prep and “Neo-Preppy” Fashions

When I saw this picture the first time I thought, “Change the face and that could have been me and my best friend, circa 1984.” Even though I did not know Clothes Circuit’s first models for the Park Cities People, Julie and Megan, I dressed just like them. They are pictured here for an ad run after we received a group of Cambridge sweater samples. Very preppy.

And as they say, “What goes around, comes around.”Neo-preppy” is the new term. It’s been modernized a bit and is not quite so stiff. While you might not see young gals running around in  winter scene, printed sweater vests,…ballet flats, pencil skirts and colored tights are everywhere and Clothes Circuit is “totally” on board with that. Chunky knits, A-line dresses and skirts, and skinny jeans are seen throughout our store along with all the accouterments to complete your neo-preppy look.

So, as I would’ve said back then, Clothes Circuit is “totally awesome to the max.” Come see for yourself

1990 Flashback

So, on our facebook page I made reference to SHOULDER PADS. With that in mind I thought I would play off that idea a bit.

While constructing  a retrospective in homage to our past 29 years in business, I came across a clipping of one of our 1990 ads. WOW! HELLO shoulder pads and lest we forget, HELLO big hair. It was the style of the day and we make it our business to be on trend.

Hopefully this made you all smile.

29 Years: A Retrospective

Looking back  let’s think about just what was fashionable in 1982 when we opened our doors and much to our surprise we find that everything old is new again.  Skinny jeans, leggings, chunky knits, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, scrunch boots, leg warmers and need I go on? Over the next few weeks we will be looking back over the past 29 years and how our organic take on resale has evolved.

Fur-real?

You just never know….we have had a Crown Russian Sable stole for about 6 weeks and had imagined it selling for holiday parties or the opera.
It was quite extraordinary. Our owner, Irene, an Oregonian with cloth coat persuasions, even looked at it longingly and today, with California like weather, it sold.
